Today is the day that our people gather as one to celebrate the day when the PNG flag was raised on September 16 1975 and also remember our founding fathers of the nation.
It was on that day 1975 that Australian flag was lowered and the red, black and gold flag was raised signifying our freedom as an independent State of Papua New Guinea.
It is also the time we reflect on what we have achieved together as a nation as we look together in one direction for the future progress and development of our great country.
For the Department, financial services to the people is vital as a lot have been achieved that is worth noting and we can build on from these success as well as embracing new opportunities.
Our Minister Hon. Rainbo Paita has brought new energy to the Department and along with the support for the continuation of the PFM reform programs. He challenged us to look beyond our core functions and make positive impact in other areas.
As Papua New Guineans celebrate this 45th independence, I am asking every individual to pause for a moment and reflect on what you have contributed to build this young nation.
PNG turns another year older, and that means we have to move forward in terms of development embracing the digital technology.
I encourage all of you to give your best to addressing challenges, grasping new opportunities and supporting the Department of Finance in delivering the Government’s reform and the development agendas.
Once again to all DoF staff- national, provincial and district happy independence and thank you for your support and loyalty to provide financial service to our people. I look forward to your continued support and working in unity with you all.
Happy 45th Independence DoF Staff, Safe Celebrations
