Eighteen officers from the public sector were among the 1137 students that graduated from the University of Papua New Guinea with Bachelor of Public Finance and Accountancy, through DoF sponsorship.
Eight of the officers are from the Department of Finance and others are from various government agencies.
This is the initiative of the Department of Finance in partnership with the University to enhance and up-skill officers.
Secretary Dr Ken Ngangan congratulated the officers for successfully completing their studies.
‘‘This is a small event yet significant for the officers as they go back to their respective organisations and contribute to the nation building,’’ he said.
You have made your dreams come true by earning a degree in Public Finance and Accountancy, he told officers.
‘‘The Degree you received will give you job opportunities to further your career in your respective organisations.’’
He said on behalf Department of Finance I want to thank the other agencies officers for participating in this program and we encourage more officers to participate.
Class Captain of the grandaunts Clement Meta thanks the Secretary and the Department for the sponsorship which allow them to earn a degree.
Leah Nandie from National Housing Corporation also thank Secretary Ngangan and Department for extending the invitation to other agencies to participate in the program.
She described the financial support as ‘‘the light at the end of the tunnel’’ to pursue her dreams.
This is the third batch of the students who have participated in this program.
A light refreshment was organised by the Department after their graduation at the Vulupindi Haus.
