The Department of Finance with partner agencies has successfully hosted the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) orientation workshop in Port Moresby, last week.
This is an initiative of the Department of Finance and United National Development Program-Australian Government Asia Pacific Partnership on Anti-Corruption for Peaceful and Inclusive Societies.
PNG Department of Finance joins hundreds of organisations who have partnered with the ACFE, the world’s largest anti-fraud organisation and premier provider of the anti-fraud training and education.
The program aims to strengthen the fight against corruption and it has seen more than 40 internal auditors from various agencies undergo the ACFE training and certification.
Department Secretary Dr Ken Ngangan is confident that this initiative together with the efforts of the Audit Committee agencies will help curb corruption and enhance transparency and accountability of public finance management in Papua New Guinea and delivery of public services to the people.
‘’Auditors are trained to prevent occupational fraud from happening so that there is transparency and accountability.’’
This training will help build investigative skills, and help them to become certified auditors adding value to their jobs.
This is the first training for the 40 trainers, so that they can interact and work together. We will have more training in future depending on our partner agencies.
