New cash office launched at Vulupindi Haus

The Department of Finance has launched its new cash office at Vulupindi Haus. The facility is part of the modernization and reform programs that are being undertaken by the Department to improve service delivery to the clients.

Finance Minister James Marape said; “This is the phase of our relationship and interaction with the public who pay their taxes, fines and fees with the department. The revenue that comes into public accounts is to ensure that we serve the nation and also have a good interface with our clients by having a modernized way of doing business Instead of the long queue standing outside” The new cash office is fitted with benches, a TV set displaying projects and programs of finance. One of those is the anti-corruption drive promotion.

We have tried to clean the image of the department both physically and the status, Marepa said. Also present was the chief secretary Lupari who said; ” The department of finance is finding its right place because you are an important department in terms of the management of public accounts and expenditure and at the end of it all, its all about accountability and visibility”.

Finschhafen MP Rainbo Paita and Enga Governor Sir Peter Ipatas were given the honor of declaring the new cash office open for business.
