Background - Why DSIP?
DSIP is a NEC approval of a number of basic government services projects to be rehabilitated and reconstructed in each District. It will cost K50 million annually for the next 8 years starting in 2006.
The implementation of DSIP will be structured into 3 phases where rebuilding of basic government services is done in a holistic approach:
- Rehabiliation and reconstruction of basic services infrastructure;
- Creation and Stimulation of Economic Activities in District;
- Sustainability of Government Services in Districts.
The program will involve all stakeholders (National Departments, Provincial Administrations and other agencies) and it will provide housing and other infrastructure including transport of 10 policemen, rural lock-ups, school inspectorate and telecommunication facilities at each of the 86 districts.
